The McDonald’s McRib is in the hot seat after a class action complaint alleged the infamous sandwich doesn’t actually contain any rib meat. A federal judge in Illinois rejected McDonald’s effort to toss the proposed lawsuit in its entirety, allowing key consumer-deception claims— that the product doesn’t in fact, contain any rib meat— to move forward while dismissing others. The plaintiffs alleged the sandwich’s name, rib-shaped patty and marketing caused customers to expect pork rib meat. Meanwhile McDonald’s denied wrongdoing, called the claims “meritless” and said it has always been transparent about its ingredients.
